About the program

OUJLIC Study Break

The Heshe and Harriet Seif Jewish Learning Initiative on Campus, or OU-JLIC for short, is a project of the OU in partnership with Hillel to install Orthodox rabbinic couples on college campuses to encourage and foster the growth and development of communities and individuals, Orthodox and non-Orthodox alike. The Brandeis OU-JLIC was founded in 2000 and was the first in the country.

We ENGAGE students navigating the university environment while balancing their Jewish life.

We EDUCATE and pave avenues for spiritual development and exploration for Jewish students from every background.

We INSPIRE young adults to take ownership and responsibility for their Jewish lives in their communities.

We SUPPORT students in all aspects of their personal lives.

We provide shiurim (classes), one-on-one learning, and personal halakhic advice. We also do social programming and host Shabbat meals in our home right off campus. We prepare couples for marriage. We learn, teach, chat, hang out, schmooze, coordinate, plan, eat, drink, sing, jump, and a bunch of other verbs!

We present a positive, sophisticated and welcoming face for Judaism on campus.

We look forward to seeing you on campus. Be sure to get in touch! We hope you will join us in our mission.
